Historic Mill Restoration Volunteers Wanted

Help restore a 150-year-old stone mill!  The Musconetcong Watershed Association in Asbury, NJ seeks volunteers to join its historic stone grist mill restoration efforts.  The Mill is the anchor to the Asbury Historic District and is being faithfully restored following Secretary of Interior restoration standards.  The 5-story building will house a 2-floor museum of mill technology, agricultural history, and watershed education, and offices for the Musconetcong Watershed Association, a 501(c)3, community-based non-profit organization.

Volunteers work as a team and make consensus-based decisions.  Volunteers are needed to help:

  • prepare grant applications;
  • help with mill fundraising events;
  • publicize the mill restoration;
  • lead tours; and
  • occasionally, conduct light work such as cleaning.

Volunteers are needed most during day-time, weekday hours; retirees are typically well-suited.  Volunteers do not perform construction activities to restore the mill.  We have a track record of successful fundraising and have made substantial progress on the Mill’s restoration.
