A Note to our State Legislature on Drought Management
The Musconetcong Watershed Association has partnered with other environmental non-profits to form the New Jersey Council of Watershed Associations. This council has created documents to submit to Governer Christie regarding a Water Supply Plan that was supposed to be drafted in 2012. This plan is supposed to protect our water supply until 2040. However, this draft has not yet been released, and on October 21st, 2016, Commissioner Martin signed an Administrative Order designating a drought in counties along the Musconetcong River including Hunterdon, Mercer, Sussex and Warren as well as other counties in New Jersey including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset and Union.
